Sanctioned by the U.S. Department of State in May 1997 for "knowingly and materially contributing to Iran's chemical weapons program"; large chemical industrial complex manufacturing over 200 chemical products, including chemical fertilizer, chemical raw materials, catalysts, chemical machinery, chemical building materials, and chemical fibers; oversees more than 50 subsidiary enterprises; manufactures dimethylamine (used in the production of nerve gas). reportedly completed a plant in Iran in June 1997 for making glass-lined equipment that can be used to produce chemical weapons; reportedly the parent company of the Jiangsu Yongli Chemical Engineering and Technology Import/Export Group, which was also sanctioned.
