Listed by the European Union on July 26, 2010 as an entity linked to Iran's proliferation-sensitive nuclear activities or Iran's development of nuclear weapon delivery systems; with some exceptions, European Union member states must freeze all funds and economic resources owned, held or controlled by the listed entity, and prevent funds or economic resources from being made available to it.

According to the European Union, supports Iran's nuclear and missile programs and is "responsible for Iran's technological advancement through relevant foreign procurement and training links."

Sanctioned by the Australian government in July 2010 as an entity with links to Iran's nuclear and/or ballistic missile programs, prohibiting Australian parties from conducting business with or transferring funds to the entity without prior approval; listed by the British government in 2010 as an entity of potential concern for WMD-related procurement.

Founded in 1984 as the Office of Scientific and Industrial Studies to provide scientific and industrial advice to the President of Iran; purpose is to promote international cooperation in advanced technologies and to support the technology procurement efforts of Iranian organizations; active in the fields of biotechnology, aerospace, information technology, software, new materials, industrial processes, energy, civil engineering, infrastructures, power engineering, technology development, and technology management; research and planning department established in 1998.

Maintains a life science department with a bioscience division called Biosciences International Cooperation (BIC), which was established in 2000 to promote international collaborations in the field of biosciences.

Established Paradis Technology Park in 2001 to promote cooperation among researchers, educators, and companies in the high-technology sector; along with Sharif University of Technology, designates members of Pardis Technology Park's board of directors; linked to Fajr Aviation Composite Industries.
