Vice-President and Head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) Gholam Reza Aqazadeh said here Tuesday that political topics and not technical issues have led to a delay in inauguration of Bushehr power plant.

Aqazadeh was speaking to reporters after inauguration of logistic units of Bushehr power plant. He said 92 percent of the plant construction has been completed and only eight percent remains to be done.

"Russia is facing limitations and is unable to continue its delay in inauguration of the plant," he said.

Asked about Russia's limitations, he replied, "Iran is not a small market. In case of lack of confidence, it will have consequences in the future."

"Russia knows that Iran is determined to develop its nuclear power plants. So, Iran's market is significant for them."

He said, "Iran will be also a good market for Russia in the future. Russia is not interested in losing this market."

"Political issues are not eternal and will finally end. After that countries will judge who are trustworthy and will be good partners for them in the future."

Asked whether Russia is not interested in shipping fuel to Bushehr power plant, he said, "I do not think so. Although there is a possibility the issue (of fuel shipment) will be delayed." He stressed that shipment of fuel to Iran by Russia would prove Iran's legitimacy and a reason why Tehran could not trust the West for nuclear fuel supply.

"If Russia refuses to deliver fuel of the plant to Iran, it will prove an issue that Tehran should seriously pursue enrichment." Aqazadeh stated that as long as Russia sends fuel to Iran, Tehran will pay its cost.

Russia is scheduled to ship 90 tons of fuel for Bushehr power plant but it has not carried out it yet.

"A Russian delegation will come to Tehran within the next two or three days to officially sign an agreement on financial commitments," the IAEO deputy head said.

He added that financial problems between Iran and Russia have been settled.

He stated that Iran would announce a good nuclear news next week.
