The cabinet assigned Iran's Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) to enforce a decision according to which the subsidiary undertakings to Non-Proliferation Treaty will no longer be valid.

The subsidiary undertaking had required Iran to acknowledge any decision about setting up of new plants to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the initial stage, whereas, the NPT requires the member states to report such projects to the specialized agency six months before commissioning them.

The Iranian government made the decision in reaction to the Security Council Resolution 1747 "which attempted to deprive the great nation of the NPT rights."

Iran respects the Safeguards Agreement of the IAEA and cameras of the agency have been installed at all Iranian nuclear sites to monitor them.

Iranian nuclear program is currently at Research and Development (R&D) stage to produce fuel for the power plants.

Iran has planned to establish 20 power plants with total capacity of 20,000 megawatts by the year 2015 to meet the growing demand for electricity.

Iran has invited Western companies to enter into partnership with Iran in establishing the power plants, as a proof of the transparency of its national nuclear program.
