An Iranian national arrested on March 14, 2009, in connection with an August 2008 criminal complaint, filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, targeting him and Ariasa, AG, an Iranian business of which Khoshnevisrad is allegedly the general manager, and which is allegedly "operated, at least in part, for the purpose of procuring U.S.-origin aircraft parts for shipment to Iran"; the complaint charged each defendant with two counts of unlawfully exporting U.S. goods to Iran and two counts of conspiracy to unlawfully export U.S. goods to Iran in violation of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) and the Iranian Transactions Regulations; from January 2007 to December 2007, allegedly caused an Irish trading company (Mac Aviation Group) to purchase several model 250 turbo-shaft helicopter engines, originally designed for a U.S. Army light observation helicopter, and then export the engines to Iran via Malaysia; shipments were allegedly routed via Penerbit Kemas Sdn Bhd and KS Global Logistics in Malaysia; among the alleged recipients of the helicopter engines in Iran was Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industrial Company (HESA); in 2006, allegedly caused a Dutch aviation parts company to export, from the United States to Iran, several aerial panorama cameras, designed for the U.S. Air Force for use on bombers, fighters and surveillance aircraft, some of which are currently used by the Iranian military; faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison on each of the first three counts of the complaint, and 5 years in prison on the fourth count, if convicted; born on August 11, 1953; Iranian passport number S2675991.
