General contractor for Iran's nuclear industry responsible for nuclear reactor projects, including procurement, engineering, fuel supply, construction, and commissioning for nuclear power plants; subordinate to the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), according to the U.S. Department of the Treasury; according to the European Union, controlled by Novin Energy Company.

On March 18, 2008, registered with the Iranian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (INRA) under the number NNSD-CLR-1001 for the construction and commissioning of the IR-360 nuclear power plant in Darkhovein, Khuzestan; contracted with Nuclear Power Production & Development Company (NPPD) for the construction and commissioning of the IR-360, a 360 MWe pressurized water reactor; supervised two companies involved in the IR-360 project: Modieriat Saakht Niroogahaye Atomi Iran (MASNA) and Equipment Supplier for Nuclear Industries Corporation (ESNICO).

Reportedly tasked by the AEOI with designing a pool-type 10 MW research reactor (IR-10), possibly the light-water research reactor located at the Esfahan Nuclear Technology Center; following the negotiation of the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), reportedly involved in the renovation of the Khondab Heavy Water Research Reactor located at the Arak Heavy Water Complex.

Designs, procures, and supplies power plant equipment; performs feasibility and site selection studies; has supplied spare parts for the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant; reportedly sought to import centrifuge pumps from a company in Austria prior to 2011.

Subsidiaries have included ESNICO.

As of November 2021, chairman was Mohammad Eslami and managing director was Mohammad Javad Safari.

Former officials have included Fereidoun Abbasi-Davani (chairman).

Sanctions

Listed by the European Union on December 1, 2011, as an entity linked to Iran's proliferation-sensitive nuclear activities or Iran's development of nuclear weapon delivery systems; removed from the EU list on July 30, 2024.

Added on April 9, 2025, to the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list maintained by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), freezing its assets under U.S. jurisdiction and prohibiting transactions with U.S. parties, pursuant to Executive Order 13382, which targets proliferators of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and their delivery systems; also subject to the Iranian Financial Sanctions Regulations, which restricts the use of the U.S. financial system for transactions involving Iranian entities.

Foreign parties facilitating transactions for the entity or otherwise assisting the entity may be subject to U.S. sanctions; foreign financial institutions facilitating transactions for the entity may be prohibited from opening or maintaining correspondent or payable-through accounts in the United States; subject to heightened U.S. export license requirements (with a presumption of denial) due to involvement in activities related to WMD proliferation.

Sanctioned on December 2, 2011, by the government of the United Kingdom (as Surena), restricting business and financial transactions with the entity and freezing its assets in the United Kingdom.
