Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officers in the field assisted the Houthi rebels' offensive that captured Yemen's Red Sea coast in early September, according to Houthi, Yemeni government, and regional officials. Some of the IRGC officers had arrived on a flight from Iran in July that Yemen's Saudi-backed government had apparently attempted to stop by striking the Sana'a airport. According to a Houthi official, IRGC officers had previously provided strategic advice but assisted with tactical planning and command-and-control during the September operation. Advisers from Lebanese Hezbollah were also present in Yemen to assist the Houthis.
