The U.S. Treasury Department targeted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)'s drone program with sanctions on October 29. The Treasury Department claimed that the IRGC has supplied armed drones to groups in Ethiopia, Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen. The new sanctions, on senior IRGC officers and companies supplying drone components to the IRGC, preceded a meeting between U.S. President Biden and his counterparts from the United Kingdom, France, and Germany to discuss the Iranian nuclear issue. Iran had said earlier that it planned to rejoin nuclear negotiations in Vienna in late November.
